A five minute stroll will take you to the centre of town and the sea front is just a minute’s walk. This is the ideal base for experiencing the old world charms of this historic seaside town, whose tranquil and pleasant atmosphere guarantees rest and relaxation.

A choice of comfortable, mainly en-suite, double, family, twin and single rooms cater for most guests’ requirements. All rooms are centrally heated, have colour televisions, hospitality trays, hair dryers and radio alarm clocks. A travel cot and high chair, as well as ironing facilities are available. Ground floor rooms are ideal for those guests who have impaired mobility. Less able guests are advised to discuss their particular access or special needs requirements prior to booking.

Pets, with well behaved owners, are most welcome, as are hikers, bikers and cyclists. Small group bookings, including school and college parties can be accommodated (but single sex parties and sports teams are not taken).
Free and unrestricted on-street parking is available on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Motorcycle and cycle storage can be provided by prior arrangement.
Vegetarians are catered for; guests with special dietary requirements are requested to notify their needs prior to arrival. Packed lunches and a flask filling service available.
The Arches operates a strictly NON-SMOKING policy.

Directions
Coming into Whitby on the A171 from Pickering / Guisborough direction:
after the new roundabout, take first left hand turning for Whitby, also signposted “West Cliff Car Park” and “Whitby Pavilion”.Stay on this road, passing Sneaton Castle, and look out for a Spar shop and filling station on the left.
Turn left immediately after the Spar, on to Love Lane (also sign posted “West Cliff Car Park”).At the new mini -roundabout, turn right (also sign posted “West Cliff Car Park”).At the shops, The Parade, turn left (also sign posted “West Cliff Car Park”).
Carry on along the seafront, North Promenade, (also sign posted “West Cliff Car Park”).Opposite the Pavilion Theatre and Crazy Golf course, turn right on to Royal Crescent (Crescent Gardens) (also sign posted “West Cliff Car Park”).Ignore the “West Cliff Car Park” sign and take the next right turn on to Crescent Avenue (at The Langley Hotel).Take next left on to Hudson Street (opposite St. Hilda’s Church)The Arches is a pink painted building at the bottom of Hudson Street on the right hand side, between The Havelock and The Kimberly. On street parking is free, if no obvious spaces available drive round the block a couple of times as spaces come and go quite regularly.
