Beer captured our hearts and imaginations over 20 years ago when we first visited and we have been regular visitors ever since. We use Beachcomber Cottage ourselves for family holidays and also let it for holidays.
Beachcomber is a period cottage built around 1900. It is located at the heart of Beer, just one minutes walk from the main street and four minutes easy stroll to the beach.
It is an end of terrace cottage, in the middle of a row, which has a pedestrian access which is gated at each end making it particularly safe for small children and pets. The terrace is set about 50 paces up a steepish hill and runs parallel to the main street. Because of it’s situation it is very peaceful and has lovely views of the church and the village without being overlooked. It catches the sun for most of the day and late on into the evening making the garden perfect for evening BBQ’s
Because it is our second home you will find it extremely well equipped with lots of little extras including books and games, and buckets and fishing nets for the children to use.

Travel Information
Those travelling from the north or the east will find it easiest to approach Beer along the A358, which can be accessed from junction 25 of the M5 or from the A303 at Illminster or the A30 at Chard.
About 4 miles south of Axminster the A358 intersects with the A3052 Lyme Regis to Exeter road. Turn right onto the A3052 and then almost immediately turn left heading south along the B3172 Seaton road. Proceed through Seaton following signs to Beer. The Beer road is B3174.
Those approaching along the south coast from the east should leave the A35 and join the A3052 just east of Lyme Regis. Turn left onto the B3172 and head south along the Seaton road. Proceed through Seaton following signs to Beer. The Beer road is B3174.
Those approaching from the west should take the A3052 at Exeter and turn right onto the B3174 to Beer.
Directions to Beachcomber Cottage
From Seaton follow the B3174 to the outskirts of Beer. Turn left down hill along Long Hill.
Anyone approaching Beer from the west along the B3174 should proceed from Hollyhead Road to New Road and turn sharp right onto Long Hill
On Long Hill you will see 3 parking spaces on your right, park here. If the spaces are full, pull in on the right to unload. The pedestrian access to West View is through the wooden gate opposite the last parking space. Beachcomber Cottage is the 6th cottage along. If arriving after dark a torch would be useful.
Please note Long Hill is one way and has restricted access
Parking your Car
In the event that the 3 parking spaces on Long Hill are taken you will need to park your car, after unloading, in the village car park, just 3 minutes walk from the cottage.
Proceed down Long Hill and turn left along Fore Street. After 200 yards turn right into Clapps Lane immediately before the Dophin Hotel. The car park is 50 yards on your left. It is a pay and display car park and the weekly charge is about fifteen pounds – you will need the correct coins as the machine does not give change. The permit will enable you to park in all East Devon Council pay and display car parks.
