The building was originally constructed in 1909 as part of the Gentleman's Residence in the name of William Careless. At that time it was the Drawing Room with the original Dining Room rather smaller than now.
The residence was only small at that time before a large extension 4 years later in 1913.
Mr Careless certainly looked after himself as his living quarters were huge both upstairs and downstairs, although he hadn't quite converted the Hotel into what it is today.
In the 1960's the house was converted into a hotel by Mr & Mrs Moulton and became popular with travelling business people and relatives visiting the area.
It has always been known for providing excellent value accommodation.
