Built originally in the 19th century The Ashberry Hotel is an elegant Victorian townhouse that has been tastefully refurbished to a very high standard, to give a very luxurious feeling to the discerning leisure and business traveller. The hotel is personally supervised at all times by the resident proprietors whose aim is to provide a personal service in pleasant surroundings. We are a non-smoking hotel and children are welcome at all times. Situated on The Mount, part of the rich architectural heritage of York we are close to the ancient city walls of historic York and only five minutes walk from the racecourse, railway station, city centre and all the city's major tourist attractions, ideal for visitors on foot. York is renowned for its beautiful medieval and Georgian buildings and there is so much to see and do! Apart from the many attractions including the Minster, the Jorvik Centre and the Railway Museum, to name just a few, you have all the wonderful shops and restaurants at your disposal all within easy walking distance of the hotel. Most weeks York hosts an event i.e. The Viking Festival in February or the Food & Drink Festival in September. At Christmas the whole city comes alive with the colourful lights and bustling street fairs. A unique feature of the Ashberry Hotel is our delightful garden. It is ideal to relax and unwind after a hard day or to bathe in the sun during our summer months. Start your day with a hearty breakfast, served in our elegant dining room. A choice of a full English or Continental breakfast is available as per normal and should you let us know in advance, special diets such as coelic or vegetarian can be catered for.

Directions From the railway station: Turn right out of the railway station, follow the road over the bridge, then take the right at the traffic lights, the hotel is on the left hand side of the street approximately 300 metres up. By Car: From the South You will come into York on the A64 Leeds - York road. On the outskirts of the city take the A1036 turning signposted to York West. After a mile you will pass the Racecourse on your right hand side. There is then a slight hill with traffic lights at the top, go through these lights and we are 100 yards along on the right hand side. From the North: You will come from the A1 on to the A59. On the outskirts of the city you will cross the outer ring road ( A1237). Follow that road until you come up a hill and cross a large railway bridge. Turn right just over this bridge into Dalton Terrace. At the traffic lights at the next crossroads turn left and we are 100 yards along on the left.
