The motorway network, via the M25 and M3, is close enough to be reached conveniently but not so near as to disturb our guests, and Heathrow Airport can be reached within half an hour. Gatwick is normally less than an hour’s drive away.

Directions
M25 Anti-clockwise
Leave the motorway at Junction 11 and turn right, following the signs to Woking. Turn left at the roundabout at the end of the dual carriageway, taking the A320 towards Woking. Travel straight on at the next roundabout and then, after a mile or two, turn left at the next one into Martyrs Lane. At the T-junction at the end of this road, turn left and then right at a mini-roundabout. Go straight through a set of traffic lights and then turn left at the next mini-roundabout. Take the first turning on the right, into Oakcroft Road. Shortly after a long bend in the road, Ridgway is a turning on the left.

Once in Ridgway, follow the road round sharp right hand and left hand bends and then take the left fork where the road divides ahead of you (there is a letter box where the road divides). After the fork, drive over two speed humps and Birchwood House will then be the second driveway on the left.

M25 Clockwise
Leave the motorway at Junction 10 (A3). You then have two choices. One, heading north on the A3 (towards London), uses major roads but is subject, at certain times of the day, to some traffic congestion, while the other, heading south towards Guildford takes you down narrow, twisty roads but is usually clear.

If you choose the north route, turn right onto the A3 towards London. Leave the A3 at the next junction (it's only a short distance after the M25), turn left onto the A245 towards Byfleet and Woking and then follow the instructions ‘From A3 via Byfleet’.

For the southern route, turn left onto the A3 towards Guildford. Leave the A3 at the next junction, signposted to Ripley and the RHS Gardens at Wisley, follow the roundabout back under the main road and then re-join the A3 heading north towards London. Almost immediately after joining the dual carriageway, there is a slip road off to a lay-by and the Wisley Gardens. Take this slip road and follow the instructions ‘From A3 via Wisley’.

From A3 via Byfleet
Leave the A3 at the Cobham, Esher, Byfleet and Woking exit and take the A245 towards Byfleet and Woking. Follow this road for about 3 or 4 miles - you will cross about 4 roundabouts on your way, but just keep going straight on at each one. You will then cross a bridge over the M25 and shortly afterwards come into the centre of West Byfleet. There are 2 sets of traffic lights here. Go straight through the first set and then turn left at the 2nd set - there is a small filter lane - into Pyrford Road (Lloyds Bank is one corner and Barclays Bank is on the opposite corner). Follow Pyrford Road for a little under a mile. You will pass Cannons Health and Leisure Club on your left followed by a long straight stretch of road. Ridgway is a small turning on the right at the end of this section of road, just before a double bend and almost opposite the entrance to Traditions Golf Course. Drive in between 2 brick pillars and take the right-hand fork ahead of you. Birchwood House is the 6th driveway on the right after the fork.

From A3 via Wisley
Leave the A3 at the slip road signposted to the RHS Gardens. The turning to the gardens is on the left shortly after entering the slip road and is quite small, so be careful not to miss it. Once on this road, drive past the entrance to the gardens on your left and keep following the road for approximately 2 miles or so. You will pass a pub called the Anchor and cross a canal via a narrow bridge. When you eventually reach the T-junction at the end of this road, turn right and continue for about half a mile. You will come to a double bend in the road and pass the entrance to Traditions Golf Course on your right. Ridgway is a turning on the left immediately after the golf course. Drive in between 2 brick pillars and take the right-hand fork ahead of you. Birchwood House is the 6th driveway on the right after the fork.
