Plum Cottage is in the peace of the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of London and yet still near enough to visit for the day. It is on the edge of the village of Medstead, near Alton in Hampshire, convenient for exploring a huge variety of places of natural and historic interest.

As well as Winchester, Alton and Jane Austen's House there are other places of interest. Days can be spent visiting Salisbury, Stonehenge, Portsmouth, the Royal Horticultural Society's Wisley Gardens, the Butterfly Conservation fields, local woods and many stately homes. There are many interesting pubs and restaurants in the area. These require transport.
