Founded as a coaching inn in the early 19th century, the Northern Hotel has a long history of hospitality to travellers in the Angus area. We continue to boast a warm welcome coupled with exceptional quality. The 12 en-suite bedrooms have been beautifully styled using sumptuous materials to provide a restful and comfortable stay. All bedrooms have colour TV, internet access, tea & coffee making facilities, iron, ironing board and hairdryer. The Baillie Lounge offers a welcoming and lively atmosphere, with an extensive menu offering a wide range of local and international fare. It’s also a great place to meet with friends or colleagues for a quiet drink. Currently in the final planning stages we will soon be opening our Café-Bar; a modern bar with traditional values. It will feature a relaxing area with comfortable sofas as well as large-screen televisions, pool table and dartboard. The bar will feature a wide range of beers, wines and spirits including cask-conditioned ale and a wide range of bottled beers from around the UK and further afield, and an appetising selection of snacks all day. We also offer two rooms ideal for private functions or conferences; the Anderson Room is also an ideal private dining room; the Fraser Suite can cater for over 100 guests and had its own integral bar. The two rooms can be used independently or linked together.

Directions By train: The nearest railway station is Montrose, which is 8 miles away. There is a regular Inter-City service from all parts of the country and guests alighting at Montrose can then catch a connecting bus service to Brechin. By Bus: Brechin bus station is only a few hundred yards from the Hotel and buses on the Aberdeen - Dundee and Montrose - Edzell routes stop here. By Ca r From the North: Take the A90 and come off at the first 'Brechin' turn off (B966.) Travel through Trinity and on entering Brechin go over the roundabout and you are on Clerk Street. We are the last building on the left on Clerk Street. From the South: Take the M90 to the A90 and continue to the first 'Brechin' turn off. Come off at this junction and follow the road in to Brechin. You will pass Woolworths on your left and then a Pedestrian crossing. The Hotel is on the next bend on the opposite corner and the car park is down the Panmure Street to the right of the Hotel
