Abbots Thorn, Carlton in Coverdale is set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and has wonderful views, superb walking and bird watching. We are central to so many places of interest including Middleham, Richard the III's castle and race horse training centre of the north, Aysgarth Falls (fight scene between Little John and Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves), Reeth, Redmire, Hawes (Wenslydale cheese factory - Wallace and Gromit and visitor centre, ropemakers and countryside museum) to name but a few.

The 200 year old house has been lovingly converted into a warm, cosy and welcoming home, its oak-beamed guest lounge with wood burner - for those chilly evenings - is ideal for after dinner coffee and has music centre, books, puzzles and maps but more importantly somewhere to relax with fellow guests.

With 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are en-suite, all south facing with fantastic views over Coverdale, each has a hospitality tray which includes tea, a selection of fruit teas, coffee, decaff coffee, drinking chocolate, biscuits and fresh milk. Towels and face cloths, complimentary soaps and shampoo, a hair dryer, colour tv, extremely comfortable beds and adjustable central heating take care of your every need.

Directions
A1 north to Masham/Thirsk turn, at "T" junction turn left for Masham, at Masham aim for Leyburn you will go past Nosterfield and East Witton and arrive at Middleham, do not follow the main road for Leyburn which takes a sharp right but the smaller one which goes straight on, follow this for approx 5 miles and you will arrive in Carlton, go 75 yards past the pub and we are on the right, please park on the left.
A1 south, take the Catterick exit, through the traffic lights, turn right just over the bridge, follow through to roundabout and take 2nd exit to Leyburn, follow signs to Leyburn. At Leyburn take the 2nd exit at roundabout and follow the A684 towards Hawes, go through Wensley, over the River Ure and take the next left, follow through to "T" junction, turn right into Carlton, 75 yards past the pub we are on the right, please park on the left.
