A ten minute, gentle and scenic walk from Grasmere village brings you to Forest Side. At the end of our long winding, tree enclosed drive stands the old Victorian hunting lodge of the Earls of Lonsdale. Built in 1853, it is surrounded by 43 acres of both landscaped and natural gardens which are home to all manor of country wild life including deer, badgers, red squirrel and of course rabbits. Once inside, you will be greeted by a warm friendly smile and in cooler weather an even warmer roaring fire of which there are four regularly lit.

Directions Travelling from the south Take the M6 to Junction 36. Follow the A591/A65 in direction of Kendal. Bypass Kendal bt staying on the A591. Drive through Windermere, Ambleside, and Rydal. As you appoach Grasmere go straight across the roundabout. We are about 3/4 mile along the A591 on the right, just as the speed limit changes to 30 miles per hour.
